Sika Pro Select anchoring adhesive is a two-component epoxy from Sika's contractor line. We use it when we need to anchor bolts, rebar, or dowels into concrete and masonry. The phrase "Pro Select" tells me it's formulated for professional installation, which matters for load-critical work.

The adhesive comes in coaxial cartridges and requires a dispenser gun. The technical data sheet gives you cure times for different temperatures, moisture levels, and embedment depths. I've seen enough contractors guess at cure time and end up with soft anchors.

My advice: if you're doing anchor work, buy the proper Sika dispensing tool and follow the cure-time table. There's no shortcut. The cost of an extra cartridge is small; the cost of an anchor pulling out is not.

Also, don't over-rely on CMYK. Pantone 286 C, a common corporate blue, converts to something like C:100 M:66 Y:0 K:2 in CMYK, but the printed result varies by substrate and press. If your logo is going on a powder-coated panel or a printed banner, specify the Pantone formula. That's what "logo pigment" means in practice.

And when it's a printed piece, supply vector artwork or a 300-DPI image at final size. A 72-DPI logo from a website looks blurry in print.

Sika sealant or polyurethane adhesive: which one do I need?

Sika makes both sealants and polyurethane adhesives, and we use both. The question is whether you're filling a joint or bonding a component. A sealant is flexible and designed to move with the joint. A polyurethane adhesive is structural and bonds two surfaces together.

For example, we've used Sika polyurethane adhesive to bond composite panels to a metal frame. That's a load-bearing application. For the expansion joint above the door, we used a Sika sealant because the joint moves.

I've made the mistake of using an adhesive when I should have used a sealant. Within six months, the joint cracked. What I mean is, the material did what it was designed to do; it just wasn't designed for that job. Check the data sheet's "substrates and joint movement" section before ordering.

When is a rush order worth the upcharge?

In March 2024, we paid $400 extra for rush delivery on a waterproof coating. The alternative was missing a $15,000 repair deadline. Worth it. The invoice hurt, but the delay would have hurt more.

I used to think rush fees were just vendors gouging customers. Then I saw the operational reality: an expedited order pulls labor, equipment, and shipping slots away from someone else—that costs money. If you need it fast, you're renting that priority.

Looking back, I should have paid for expedited shipping on an earlier window restoration job. At the time, the standard delivery window seemed safe. It wasn't. The materials arrived two days late, our crew sat idle, and the client billed us for their team's waiting time.

So my rule now: for any deadline-critical job, I ask what guaranteed delivery costs. If the premium is less than the cost of being late, I pay it. If the job can flex, I don't.

Why are technical data sheets a dealbreaker?

A technical data sheet—or TDS—tells me cure time, working temperature, shelf life, application thickness, and safety precautions. If a manufacturer can't or won't provide one, I can't order the product. This is not an insult. It's risk management.

For Sika products, the technical data sheets are usually one or two pages and written in plain enough language for a facilities team to follow. They also tell you what not to do, which is just as useful.

I should add that product catalogs matter too. I keep a current Sika catalogue in my office because it makes approvals easier—there's a product name, a number, and a specification I can hand to finance. No catalogue, no purchase order.
